Stanford Hall 2003
A bright sunny start start to the day as we met at the Barhill layby for our trip to Stanford Hall. Club members pulled out all the stops with a splendid turnout. Because of the numbers of minis parked up we decided to split into three mini convoys leaving at 5 minute intervals. The run up was uneventful and we arrived around 09:40. With more members to help the club stand was set up in record time and the cars neatly arranged. As usual the first priority was to get the bacon butties on the go and to chill out for a few minutes before hitting the trade stands etc.
So now onto the show. This year the show was even bigger than last year with all the clubs down the dirt track from the hall. We had a good pitch this year as we had asked for space for twenty cars plus, didn't quite make the twenty as two of our members found that they had to be elsewhere (someone didn't check their diaries properly). By this time the sun was beating down in earnest - absolutely brilliant for a September day. Maddy had do do a quick change, she had bought along a change of clothes just in case. Now maddy seems to be everywhere with her camera and we can thank her for the array of pictures below, this is just a quick selection out of 44 which she took. There will be more on the site later this week she promises.
The format of the show has changed over the years and the new layout seems to work well with all the trade stands on both sides of the entrance road. (shame about the long walk from the club area). Many a bargain was to be had, Maddy tells me that she actually bought a brand new chrome bumper for £8.50, now that has to be good! Simon Denney with his Suzuki powered mini was kept busy chatting to admirers of the conversion as well as making a fair bit of dosh with the auto jumble he'd brought along.
At One O'clock it was time for the Grand Prix and again our chairperson did us proud by setting up a small portable television so those motorheads amongst us could enjoy the race. Harry and Tereasa had brought along some genuine american hamburgers and treated club members with same - to paraphrase Bernard Matthews - bootiful. We'd like to thank all club members for supporting the club with such a splendid turnout, and for our club this now ends our season. Now folks enjoy the pictures that maddy has selected. (dont forget - more later).
As promised additional Stanford Hall pictures.
