Rhynes, Rivers and Running Brooks

International Poetry Competition 1999

from The Blue Nose Poets and Common Ground

Water is central to myth and the sacred in most cultures and poets have always had an eye for the richness of imagery to be found in running water. This international competition encourages any poem on the subject of rivers. Whether your poem is concerned with ecology, allegory, memory or awe, we welcome all styles and forms.

Prizes to the value of £1,500 will be awarded to the winner and five runners up. Winners will be invited to read their work at a special Blue Nose Poetry event in London and the winning poem will be published in Resurgence Magazine and read on 'Open Country' BBC Radio 4.

Previous Winners: the Field Days Poetry Competition 1997/8 Results List is available here.
